American Express, is not accepted in most establishment here in Austrlia, very few accepts it, and when it comes to paying your credit card there's always charges to make the payment even at their own foreign exchange offices, I had one which I made payment when ever its due, I believe after paying all of on my statement that I don't owe them anything, not realising that the fee on the counter when I made the payment is charge to me on my next statement which I don't bother to open as I paid it all off, and never bother using it anymore, then one day I had letter from them saying that they have listed me in credit rating agency with a bad rating, just because I haven't paid their counter charge of$1.98 and now my credit rating is ruined thanks to giving my details to American Express, now I know why people don't use and no shops would take it, because as soon as you don't use them often enough American Express will ruin you...

You may wonder why a lot of establishment will not accept American Express credit card, I was travelling in Asia last year in the 4 countries I've visited and in places that I've visited not a single one would accept it, it's like its dirt to them, it's true too that in what Majab says, there's always a fee to pay your bill statement for American Express even at their own offices. I don't recommend Amex card to anyone espcially travelling as it's useless and the fees are execessive.
