We are sorry to hear you did not receive the scale. Just to clarify, the scale is optional and needs to be ordered when you sign-up for the Stamps.com service. You are required to pay an $8.99 shipping/handling fee. Did you place an order for the scale and not receive it? Please email additional details, including your complete name, email address and phone number to social@stamps.com so we may further research your account and assist you.

It's important to note that we use the words "Get Up to $45 in Free Postage" in all forms of advertising for both online and offline materials as well as on our website. In every instance, we use the words "Get up to $45 in free postage."

Your feedback is important to us, and we do make every effort to ensure that our Promotional Terms are presented prior to account creation and before we ask for a credit card. Stamps.com follows up immediately with a Welcome E-mail that reiterates this process.

Stamps.com also takes the security of our customers' sensitive information seriously and our Support Representatives DO NOT have access to your password or security responses. Additionally, during the registration process, all customer information is stored on a secure server and is ENCRYPTED.

We apologize for your negative experience with Stamps.com. We appreciate your concerns about full disclosure, and Stamps.com does ensure that our customers see our Terms and Conditions before they create their accounts.

During the process of registration, we present fee and Trial Period information. Our Terms (which can be found at all times at www.stamps.com/conditions), which must be read and reviewed prior to account creation, state:

"At account registration, Stamps.com may check to verify that your credit card is valid for the service fees associated with your account. Actual service charges shall occur on the date for your monthly billing cycle."

The $1.00 transaction is an authorization rather than a charge. This places the funds on a temporary hold while we wait for the credit card company to verify the information on file. The authorization drops off your credit account within 72 hours for most banks.

We would be happy to review your account further. Please e-mail us your contact information to social@stamps.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We will take your feedback into consideration as we always want to do everything that we can to ensure our customers have a positive experience when working with Stamps.com.

Stamps.com would like to apologize for the negative experience you recently encountered.

Regarding your free 5 lb. digital scale, Stamps.com does not send the scale out automatically upon creation of your account as customers who use Stamps.com can use any scale in conjunction with our service.

Once you become a new customer and complete the registration process, you will see a window that asks if you would like to order your free scale immediately. (Note: The free scale requires a shipping and handling fee.) If you do not choose the order the scale at the completion of registration, you can still order it at a later time. Instructions on how to order the scale after the registration process are included in the Stamps.com new customer "Welcome Email."

In order to redeem the promotional postage, you may mail us a postcard voucher every 30 days after the end of the 4 week trial period. Each promotional postcard must contain a NetStamp bearing postage.

Stamps.com is sorry to hear that you encountered this issue with the delivery of your letters. When using Stamps.com to mail letters, the U.S. Postal Service handles the actual delivery of your letters and packages that have been mailed.

Stamps.com is a licensed vendor of the USPS. Stamps.com is not a shipper but an advanced postage printing system that allows you to print and create postage from your office or home.

Please contact Stamps.com Customer Support at 1-888-434-0055 (open Mon-Fri, 6am to 6pm PT) so we can investigate this issue in more detail. Our Customer Service dept. can assist you in contacting the USPS to find your lost items. Alternatively, you can also contact the USPS directly if you prefer at 1-800-ASK-USPS to start an investigation.

Interestingly, every advantage you specifically noted for using stamps.com is available to anyone without paying your monthly fee, including
...Discounted rates for priority, express AND flat rate mail on usps.com
...Free confirmation at usps.com and
...Integration with amazon, ebay, etc. on an individual basis.
And we purchased a nice 5-lb electronic scale for $12.00 at a local store common in most cities and we did not have to sign up for any $17.95/mo service. Yes, we have to add second ounce stamps accordingly, but that is kindergarten math AND it is much easier than printing postage at our expense! What I find most appalling is that stamps.com would take $17.95 from me when they knew I never used their service. That is not good business. There really is nothing you can say that will make me think that is okay.
