After arriving at my destination, I found I needed to extend my reservation by 2 days. I called the reservation center again and they said the rate was the same, $117 per day. I got on the internet and found that not only were all the other rental agencies in town about $30/day, but Avis was that rate as well. I called the reservation center back and was told there was no way to change the rate on an extention. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent hung up on me. I called back and got a supervisor, who was rude, curt and accused me of trying to change my rate after I picked up the rental.
I explained that I do not want to change the rate on my initial rental and I was not expecting to get the website rate for the extention. I simply wanted a more reasonable rate to extend my rental. Her response, "there is no other rate".
When I told her that I could drive to the airport, return the car and rent a new one from your company for less than 1/4 the price she was quoting, she said I should do that. I told her if I drove all that way I certainly wouldn't rent from Avis again. Her response was "I can't help you".
There are many other rental companies that I have had no problems with. I will give my money to them next time.
