I purchased HP640 fax machine. I was on the phone for three hrs., with three(3) different HP support techs and they couldn't help. I followed the booklet instructions and went to the Advanced setting and there is NO DRPD listed.DRPD is listed in BASIC setting, but when you call the fax number it DOES NOT acknowledge the new pattern and the display will not stop on its own and say"OK". When the fax is connected, I will hear muffled rings(5)while I am having a conversation and then the high pitch fax sound starts. My fax number is different from my home phone number.The Distinctive ring lets me know I have a fax coming in. The fax starts(in receive mode) even if someone calls my home phone number. I was going to send this HP640 back, but I decided to send this complaint before I did.
