My Notebook pavilion has black screen then shuts down. It was under limited service warranty. I have sent it in twice now and have had dozens of conversations, and the computer was still sent back broken. The first time they said they fixed it, they did not. The second time they said "I broke it" by not buying a new power cord. They told me it wasn't urgent to buy a new cord..If he told me it was, I would have bought one. The computer's still broken, and I refuse to pay a fee because I strongly feel it is the companies mistake.
