when i moved back to greenville in 1998, Pirates Pub (then known as AJ McMurphys) was one of the better bars/restaurants in town. Nine years later, it is one of the worst.
tonight was my first visit there in probably six months, with the hope being that things had improved since the last visit. the bar alienated myself and many others when they removed the budweiser on tap in favor of some poser "beer"....plus the food portions had been cut in half and prices elevated....needless to say, they have lost a lot of business....
tonight, me and my wife both got the catfish and shrimp special. my wife got a grand total of 3, count 'em, 3 shrimp (very small ones) on her plate. i felt lucky i got 5. the fish was also undercooked and no salt or pepper was ever brought to our table. our waitress then disappeared for over 20 minutes. at that point i dropped a twenty on the table and left. i think my wife paid the rest, but dont know for sure.
Pirates Pub used to be a cool hangout but they are sinking fast. I will not set foot in there again until there is a new owner because the current one obviously doesnt care how his establishment is being ran. shame.
