we got directtv in august of 06. service was pricey but okay.in august of 08 we changed dvr to get on demand, wasnt worth it. i then tried to cancel, they said i had to pay a fee for early termnination, seems changing the dvr added 2 years to my contract they said.i then said fine i will cancel all the receivers and ship them back.oops have to keep one or that would be caceling my service, so i HAVE to keep a receiver.i looked into the contract and guess what it DOES NOT say it extends your contract to activate equipment.i also looked at my bill and they had been over charging me for a year.give me cable anyday.

We had a similar problem with directv. Our dvr stopped working, they sent out a replacement, then we found out that they tacked on 2 more years to our contract! I can't wait to be rid of those scam artists.
