We have humdreds of satisfied clients here in the Portland area. We show up on time, clean up, communicate with clients and use high quality products. Our referral rating is over 95%. I deeply care about each and every client we work for.
This client never asked me about glazing window. Never never never. She asked my paint rep about the glazing. In addition, she had renters in the home being painted who kept a very messy home. The caused delays in the project and were not cooperating with my painters at all. They had junk all around the home that we had to move. This was not in the bid. We moved the junk away from the home. Every day that we went out there, they moved the junk back up against the home. Day after day the junk was back up against the home. In short, it took us an additional 12 hours to move stuff away from the home so that we could paint. We continued to ask them to not move it back until we were competed but that was ignored. We made this request every day we went out there. It was ignored 3 times. My client then brought up the glazing only because her tenents said we needed to glaze. They are not professional painters and have absolutely no knowledge of painting. Glazing does not need to be done. It can be done but it was never discussed with me nor was it in the bid. I did not put it in the bid because she wanted to keep the costs down (its a rental) and glazing is very labor intensive. She told me, weeks after we were done, that we needed to come back and repaint the windows because she had them glazed. This was clearly something that she should have brought up during the project ... and she never did. Rather than call me to chat about it, she simply copied me on emails that her tenents were writing.
I am fair and reasonable. My client, in my opinion, was not. I am very sorry that her experience with us was not what I had hoped for. I have always held myself and my painters accountable for things that go wrong.
Contractor - client problems are not always the fault of the contractor and I hope people can view this complaint for what it is.
