big lots #1471 Complaint

After purchasing this game I couldn't wait to play it. I could download but it wouldn't let me play the game. I took it my next trip back to the store but was told it couldn't be returned as it had been opened. How are you supposed to play the game if you don't open the package???
The manager was rude but VERY matter of fact.
I do quite a bit of shopping at this store and have never had this happen upon a returned item.
it is not a regular habit as what is purchased is very good and that's why I go there.

I certainly hope you can help me in this matter.
