false advertisement, liars, and RUDE - Nikon D40x package

I placed an order with Fotoconnection.com for a Nikon D40 camera kit. The website claimed that the kit included a genuine Nikon D40 camera, two Nikkor autofocus lenses, a wide angle conversion lens, a 4 GB SD card, and nine other accessories (including a tripod, camera bag, card reader, flash, etc.). A few hours after I placed the order, I received a call from “Eddie” wanting to upgrade my package to the “USA” model with an extended life battery. I told him I was not interested because I didn’t want to spend any more money and that what was advertised on the website (what I ordered) was identical to the camera and lenses I already own. After thirty minutes on the phone with him, he angrily said fine, that he would ship what I originally ordered.

I received the order several days later, and it only contained the camera body, two Nikkor lenses, and a 4 GB SD card. All the additional accessories, including the wide angle conversion lens were not included.

I promptly called the company and was told by several extremely rude people that I had been upgraded to the “USA” model. The “manager” told me that the lenses included in the original order were not Nikkor autofocus lenses (even though that is what is shown on the website order page), but generic manual focus lenses, and the camera body was a generic brand (even though a Nikon D40 is shown on the website order page). He stated he remove all “unnecessary” accessories so that he could send me the upgraded version at no extra cost. I debated this with him for almost an hour, as the camera I received was not manufactured in the USA, but in Thailand. After he referred to me as a “stupid b***h” he told me there was nothing that could be done about my situation.

I am unhappy, dissatisfied, angry, etc. by this. The only positive thing is that the camera parts I received seem to be working properly – for now. I hope to make as many people as possible aware of the dishonesty of this company so that no one else will be scammed by them.
