I have been a customer since 2004, watching over 250 channels, including 15 HD channels, all for $99 per month.
DirecTV just launched another satellite that will enable us - its customers - to receive up to 150 more HD channels. through the same system It will begin broadcasting only a couple of months from now.
Customer service is great, you can order pay-per-view by remote, and even lease or buy an HDDVR at a reasonable price.
And the stock play! It's an Unbelievable Opportunity!
They are offering new Memberships for discounted prices under existing customers, offers that include a free HDDVR and even an ipod!
If you don't sign up for DirecTV, continue to watch what it is doing and where it is going. Also, be ready for your Cable or other satellite service to go out of business. Or, worse yet, get swallowed up in the consolidation that will be needed for any of the other companies to survive.
Oh, yeah - pic is the Biloxi Hurricane Katrina Memorial. What a terrible wasteful shame for many nice folks I knew. There's some real nice, very inexpensive real estate around here these days.

Called and spoke to David (U2631) at DIRECTV he informed me Amanda would return my call within 2 hours.
Amanda (R9631) at DIRECTV called offered me 60 days credit I politely refused and again informed that I would be suing in small claims court and filing criminal charges for unauthorized use of a credit card. Amanda kept telling me that DIRECTV had spoken with me and I had not called DIRECTV to confirm the disconnect and that DIRECTV had billed me for approximately 30 months before I noticed. I stressed to Amanda that I had never been contacted by DIRECTV after my initial E-mail in July, 2006 and that I had never spoken to DIRECTV about this account until February 24, 2009 when I discovered the fraudulent billing.
DIRECTVs position appears to be that I did not catch DIRECTV soon enough so DIRECTV intends to keep most of the funds that DIRECTV fraudulently removed from my bank account and that I did not catch DIRECTV quickly enough. The approximately $100 credit DIRECTV offered does not equal the approximately $1600 dollars DIRECTV obtained fraudulently.
