Xbox 360 Elite disk reader failed - Xbox 360

I purchased a brand new xbox 360 Elite ($458.30) in October of 2007, the disk reader failed, making it so that no game disks can be played in February 2008, less than 4 months old!!!

I find out AFTER I spent my money that these systems are well known to fail, 3 rings of death, E74 error code, disk reader failure to name a few.

This is an outright fraud, Microsoft knows the units are bad, yet keeps selling them to unsuspecting consumers and then hiding behind a worthless warranty.

Microsoft will not refund my money but they offered to fix the failed machine, I don't want another broken, defective system, I want my money back!

DON'T BUY ONE!!! it might take a year or it might take a day but IT WILL FAIL.

Write to your states Attorney General Consumer Fraud Division and help protect other consumers from throwing away their money on defective rubbish.

Shame, shame on Microsoft!!

I can not understand why people complain about the xbox 360 console, i have had mine for well over 3 years, and sure i have experienced the 3 red lights, but after that, my xbox has been working perfectly fine,it all depends on where your console is located, i have had mine in a well ventilated place, and there have been times where i played for well over 12 hours non stop, COD4 :p...and havent gotten any problem, so if you treat your systems adequately it is sure to last you

I got my Xbox 360 Elite on christmas 2007 Not even 5 months later it would freeze and not let me play then the rings turned red. I called and sent my Xbox in and was told by a company rep that if they couldnt fix the problem they would send me a BRAND new one. I got one back a week or so later and it was having the same issue as the one I sent in, so I called to see if they had just sent me back the one I sent in,but they had sent me a refurbished one that had obviously not been fixed. I have been trying now to send it and to talk to a manager but can get nowhere. One represenative saw our call record and told us that we have talked to over 200 represenatives and was shocked that the problem was still not solved. Most recently we talked to a lady that asked us what a controller was and proceeded to tell us to trouble shoot with the controller that has a loose input for the headset. We then asked for a manager and he seemed nice enough and offered us Microsoft points for the inconvenience but we got disconnected from him.So we called back and talked to another manager and we told him that the last manager offered us Xbox point we were then called liars and were told that nobody has the authority to do that he then asked if we had put the Xbox Near or in a microwave or water it seems that every time I call each person has a different policy and they either cant speak english and dont understand what is wrong or they dont know anything about Xbox. We are now going to take legal action and it would be greatly appreciated if anyone is having the same problems or similar problems with Xbox to step forward and contact us at this email bratdrmagurl426@yahoo.com

Oh, and when I went into some large big name store and asked about the Xbox 360 or Elite I was told by employees not to WASTE my money on a system like that and was told to buy a PS3 instead....Its is pretty bad when the people that are supposed to be selling your system are working to get people not to buy it.

This is infuriating, someone once again called me from XBOX to "confirm my address and email", it is almost a month that I initiated a repair order which has now turned into 7 different "repair orders" because every time I call a new person answers the phone and tells me the same thing "can I call you by your first name?" and gives me the same directions on what to do which I've heard seven times before. I realize now that XBOX is not willing to honor the warranty on my console and is just delaying the process so that my warranty expires or I give up, well I won't. I have documented and recorded every conversation with "Mike, Angelo,..." and everyone else and I will initiate a formal complaint with the BBB. I spent a lot of money on this console and I have read online that this situation has happened to many others, Enough is enough!

IDIOT, did you read their warranty before buying? NO. Now you complain? Really pity for your peanut sized intelligence worth for stupid video games only.
