The character of Alex (Selena Gomez) is a terrible role model for pre-teens. The character is constantly disrespectful to her parents; talking back, glaring, going against their expressed wishes, lying, and generally making bad choices. Now I would understand Disney's approach if they were trying to show kids the consequences of such behaviour, but my wife and I certainly do not get that feeling. We are no longer allowing our two girls to view the show as we can no longer afford to sit there and monitor the show's content and hold discussions on the message the character of Alex is sending.
