Wii Fit Has Pros and Cons - Wii Fit

I'm an avid video game guy -- always have been. When I was teeny, I had the first, ugly, gray-looking Nintendo and I was zipping Mario around all over the place. When I was a "tween," I had my Super Nintendo and I was still zipping around Mario. When I graduated high school, I had my Nintendo 64 and Mario was STILL THERE! Now my older brother has a little girl and we're best buddies and she has a Nintendo Wii . Speaking of which, I I have pros and cons about Wii Fit...

First, the pros: Wii Fit is good because its gets children off the couch and running around. That's what kids need to learn and I think it's great that Wii Fit does it. Added to that, Wii Fit also keeps kids entertained and for a long time, too. So, if you want a quick nap, turn on Wii Fit and there's a chance you'll get one.

Second, the cons: Wii Fit may be fun and energetic, but it's a little too weight obsessed. Fitness isn't alweays about WEIGHT, WEIGHT, WEIGHT, WEIGHT, WEIGHT, WEIGHT. But, with weight recording and goal-setting galore, Wii Fit sure makes it seem like it is. Now this system isn't too bad for adults, but for kids it's a problem. I don't want my little niece freaking out about her weight. I don't want her to be obsessing over whether her stomach looks big. Kids should just have fun and not worry about things like that (unless they really do have a problem). So, sorry, Wii Fit, but prepping kids and teens for an eating disorder clinic is NOT a good thing. Overall, it seems to me that Wii Fit should be more a fun game than a weight Nazi. You don't even need all the weight stuff (adult users can record their own weight on those things called "scales"). So I think Wii Fit should drop the weight thing and concentrate on the healthy activities part of the game.
