What The F*** Happened To The Whopper? - Whopper

Okay, I'll be honest, I don't eat fast food. Or to be more precise, I eat it no more than twice a year such as when I'm traveling long distances, say to the in-laws over Thanksgiving. Which brings me to my subject.

This November (2008) I stopped at a Burger King in VA to grab a quick bite because I seemed to recall that the last time I ate a Whopper it wasn't half bad. Can't live on 'em of course, but it tasted okay. Well, those days are gone, dead, defunct, a faint shadow on the wall memory of a bygone era. My friends, something terrible has happened to the Whopper in the past year or so. The one I bought (for $5!), was one of the most dreadful imitations of food I've ever put into my mouth. What passes for a beef patty looks like a slice of processed soy protein. And has less taste. I mean it, it was first rate awful. The only flavor in the whole package came from the ketchup and mayo. I was so shocked at the poor quality that I opened the burger up and examined the "meat" up close. It was 1/4 inch thick at best, soft as bologna, no texture, no meatiness, no flavor. Nothing.

I have no idea what Burger King was thinking when they decided to pass this monstrosity off on the public, but if they think so little of us, I can assure you I will never even consider stopping at a BK in the future. You're e better off going to a hole-in-the-wall Chinese eatery, at least there the meat is real. And you'll get a serving of vegies to boot!
