Warranty at Hewlett Packard HP? Not so much - HP Printer

I purchased an HP Hewlett-Packard printer at an Office Depot and paid an extra $19.99 for an extended warranty that was supposed to cover EVERYTHING. I had had the printer for about a month when it just stopped working for no reason. I called Office Depot and asked if I could exchange for a new one, they said that NO I had to deal with HP directly. I called HP and they told me I was over my one year warranty (even though I'd only had the thing for a month!) I called Office Depot again, citing the warranty I'd purchased to deal with stuff like this, and asked them to at least tell me where to send it for repair - keep in mind I'm talking to some guy in Gujarat India who I cannot understand and who wants me to fax PROOF of my purchase date to him. This is ridiculous! He then tells me that because my HP warranty (that comes with the machine the first year is not yet expired) I Must deal with them directly. ARGH!
So I call the HP people again and they tell me (also a call center in India by the way) that because my warranty is EXPIRED??? they cannot help me but that the special warranty I paid for will kick in in a few months.

So I'm waiting til that happens and then I will contact them again. In the meantime I've had to purchase a new printer.

Talk about CHEAP CRAP.
And to top if all off I spent an extra $20 FOR NOTHING on a useless extended warranty and numerous hours on the phone with some idiot half a world away who had no idea other than the script they'd provided him.

These big companies are WORTHLESS and treat the consumer like a commodity without any respect. We are bank accounts, profit lines, and nothing more.

Down with HP AND Office Depot for dishonest tactics!
