Like most others who have commented on this site, I thought this offer needed to be scrutinized. After reading many of your comments, and looking at the offer I can only hang my head at the laziness and/or complete lack of basic common sense most people have today. On the top half of the first page of the Terms and Conditions of this offer it states a monthly fee of $39.95. It also states that it is not associated with Visa, Mastercard, or anyone else. It is a line of credit that can only be used on certain goods and services. Was it a seductive ad?...sure. Are they lying and scamming the public?...not even close. If any of the people who bothered to complain that they had been "ripped off" had spent 60 seconds looking at what they were signing up for they would have saved the hour it took to write this complaint and call the attorney general. YOU are the reason why politicians keep pandering to the most unmotivated of us and erode our freedoms and choices in the process. Try using that lump of grey matter above your shoulders.

ace123: I got my First Plus Platinum months ago and am still enjoying using it, the only set back is the delay in delivery sometimes but that is tolerable. You do have to scrutinize so you would know what you are paying for, nobody told you that its free or something, they offer high credit limit because that's the risk they had to take from customers, the monthly charge is your commitment to them that you are capable of using the card or charging some online purchases. If you can't pay up then you shouldn't have attempted even to have the card, not even Visa or Mastercard.

Thank you, ace123!!! You hit the nail on the head. If people bothered to read the "Terms & Conditions", they would see all terms and monthly charges listed, as they are required to do by law. This should ABSOLUTELY be the FIRST PLACE you go before giving any merchandise card your Social Security Number and financial information. Not to mention the fact that nowhere on this card do you see a Visa or MasterCard logo. I care too much about my finances to just sign up for anything and everything helter-skelter without knowing the fact first!!!

you are so wrong ace123. The ad is very seductive. Go to the second page and you see that the added "optins" for additional offers are not in the terms and conditions. They are way at the bottom of the page. WAY under the submit button. Nobody would ever think to look there. NOBODY. Get the facts about what the scam really is. The problem is not the product itself, but how they trick you into signing up for other things without your knowledge. This is how they really make their money. They don't care if you cancel your credit. They already make a commission on selling the other products.
