Verizon

We had a verizon tech show up at our house today asking to see the phone lines. We don't have land lines and we don't use Verizon for our internet service so we told him that but he insisted that he needed access to the backyard. Since we're new renters we thought *maybe* the landlord knew so we let the guy go in back but when we asked him who sent him he said 'Who's your internet provider?' and we answered. He said 'They sent me - I'm installing 'drop cables' just in case you want phone or cable with us in the future' We told him we didn't order nor did we anticipate ordering services of this nature from Verizon and told him we wanted him out of the backyard. He basically refused and then spray painted lines where apparently they're going to be digging to insert these cables we don't want.
We did call the owner of the house to double check and he said no he didn't authorize any of this and wouldn't go with Verizon anyway because they overbilled him and lied about previous disconnect charges on a dish tv network.

I called Verizon and was told that there had been a notice in the neighborhood that this work would be going on and if we dind't want the service we should have gone to the meeting to tell them

What a load of lies! This is totally dishonest and should not be legal!! If the Verizon tech or any tech other than te company we contracted with for internet comes by again and tries to access our backyard we will call the local police and file a report.

When I asked the guy to leave he should have left or provided information to assure me of who he was and his need to be there but instead just shrugged his shoulders and aid I had to deal with the company that sent him (which it was a lie that our internet company had sent him because I called them andthey know nothing of it!)

Verizon should be sued for illegal practices!

Its called easement. A utility company such as Verizon has easement rights. If they come back and go in your yard, please do call the police so that they may educate you on the rights of easement as it related to property rights. No I do not work for Verizon but you really should educate yourself. Utility companies do have certain rights to your property whether you like it or not.

I agree that verizon is terrible at
customer service,They tried to bill me for a phone number that I never had,That I ignored, then months later, I got a collections notice offering me the supposed pay 1/2 the total amount due of like 75 dollars all for a phone number that
was never mine to start with.
