I have tried to use the Express Lane 4 times. Each time there has been something incorrect (e.g., honeydew melon rather than cantaloupe) but all within the realm of reason but with a noticeable downward trend. Today 2 of the packages of meat were past the sell-by date. Three were at the sell-by date. When I complained, there was no apology, only a "we're busy. we'll call you later." Unacceptable.

I entirely agree with NCBO. Having used the machines many many times I can tell you they are clearly marked and that is policy on meat and produce. If you can't figure out the machines wait in line. If you are too impatient find another store to go to.

Lisa, I do not for 1 second believe that no one took the time at HT to listen and correct your complaints!!! HT would have doubled your money back on those meats and PRODUCE had you went to the customer service desk the next time you were in the store...WITH OR WITHOUT a reciepts. 2ndly, if you cant use self checkout..go through the lines and WAIT until its your turn. If you had one melon and it rang up another melon, at self checkout it is your faul and your fault alone. There are 2 simple ways to ring your produce at self checkout. 1 is by hitting the produce button on the screen and selecting the appropriate item. The other is to have common sense and look for the PLU # on the PLU scroll ATTACHED directley to the top of the self checkout screen! Dont complain when you go through self checkout, dont know what you are doing and screw up your own order. There is a cashier at the station or within earshot to take care of any problems.
