Wal-Mart (Walmart) Complaint

Uacceptable Eye Exam - Vision Center, eye glasses

Before making an appointment at the Mountain Home, Idaho Wal-mart Vision Center, I asked the price of an exam for contacts and was told 50-60 dollars.

During the exam, I asked to have a prescription for the Muti-focal Accuvue contacts that I had been wearing, but in a higher power. The doctor said that Accuvue doesn't make the multi-focal lenses anymore. He gave me another lense.

When I left, my bill was $133 because he had to "fit me for a contact."

When I came back for the return appointment, a different doctor asked how the contact was doing. I said that it isn't as good as the other. I just wanted the Accuvue which I had seen in another Walmart after my intial appointment. He said that they could order me the Accuvue and asked my past prescription. I had given the prescription to the previous doctor who had not written it down.

There was no consistency or consideration in my care. After spending $133, my vision hasn't improved, and I'm left waiting for a contact that may not help.

I am very disappointed in this kind of service and will not return.

my problems I have is I've gone trough 2 frames that are flex
ware 1st one broke by bending it. and got another pair $100 being a flex didn't think was a problem. the second. pair I got and paid $100 had it for 3 month while this time I didn't bend the glasses EVER worry it would happen again 2 them cleaning the glasses it broke on the nose brige $100 had it 2 or 3 months same place.
I DIDN'T BEND IT EVER. remembering what happened befor went to walmart again, they said they don't have the frames were recalled so the clerk found another one while she was changing the lenses doing it the back room I heard my lens hit the floor (Great) then I get them back and noticed they don't fit see the lens sticking out and saw huge chunk out of the lense where fell and hit the ground I was upset but didn't cause a problem. So I bought anther pair of frames and new glasses at a total of $250 there on order. So got another frame The eye glasses had fixed there the lenses keep popping out and u can see there not right fitting. you can see how the lences are coming out. this frame for this was $35 and ask to get my old pair I brought in she took the lenses out and put them in $35 frames I told her I wanted my broken frames for the extra things I payed for the clerk was aware and when I got home noticed my broken frames not in the bag. the 2 flex frames at $100 each = $200 she said they were recalled my flex frames hmmmm wonder why there junk and now I paid another $250 for brand new pair of glasses in 6 or 7 months $480 for ur glasses.

I complained a couple of weeks ago on this website about the eye exam quote over the phone being $50-60 and the bill being $133. Also the first eye doctor said that the contacts, which I have been wearing and like, were discontinued. After checking things out I find that they were not discontinued, and on my second appointment found that my prescription wasn't recorded. The second eye doctor just shrugged when I complained, smiled and said "Yeah, it just happens that way sometimes."
Well, this week I went to the customer service desk and was referred to the assistant manager of the vision center. The eye doctor from the first visit was there, also. They said there was a misunderstanding. I had my husband with me this time. I don't know if that is why I was taken seriously or not. In any case when the eye doctor said that he didn't know about prescription powers for the multifocal lens and asked the assistant manager about the powers, I said, "Enough." I lost ALL confidence and they did refund my money.
I am happy that they did make it right for me but am sorry that others have that kind of eye care.

My 20 year old daughter went to Wal-Mart for an eye exam today. When she called to make the appoinment, she gave them all of our insurance information over the phone...all the numbers, etc. We have State Of Illinois insurance which is extremely good. Well, she went in for the exam and after it was over, they said she owed $48. She did not have any money on her. They said she could not leave the store until they had their money. She called me. I tried to give them credit card info, debit card info, checking acc. info. They said she had to stay there til someone came and paid the bill. I could not get there to pay them. I asked them what they were going to do with her all night? That was a couple of hours ago. My daughter is still being held hostage in Wal-Mart. Can they really hold someone like that?

Write the CEO at Wal-Mart's corporate offices. That will get their attention and perhaps improve the service for everyone. Don't be shy, make your point. Never, never take 'no' for an answer. :-) Carole G
