UPS very poor

I didn't expect such bad service from UPS.

I called 1800PICKUPS to ship a package via UPS ground and gave the address (in Manhattan). I asked them to come between 6-7 pm (7 pm is last pickup time for next day delivery), they said fine, and didn't show up. I called that evening, and asked why, and was told that they came but "the package was not ready". This is obviously wrong, since the doorman would have called us. I resceheduled for the same time next day. I then receive a call (from a UPS location in the city) in the morning saying that I cannot schedule such a time in Manhattan (and the 1800PICKUPS associates do not know this [umm, maybe UPS should make sure they inform their people]), and that the pickup could occur anytime in the day before 7 pm. I said OK fine. I made the nanny wait all day at home, and they did't show up. I called 3 times during the day, plus 3 times to the doorman, but was told they hadn't come yet, but would before 7 pm. I called at 6:30 pm again, and they sent out some kind of a track request. I called soon after it was 7 pm, and while I am on the phone the guy shows up (at 7:05pm). He takes my package (I need to fill the form which he brought, so by that time it's 7:20pm). I then track the package, and I find that it was sent out at 10 pm *the following day*, so it takes an extra day to deliver (actually, extra business day).

This is not the first time I've sent something via UPS ground. I've had problems before, but never so bad (I was not in Manhattan previously, so maybe it's particularly bad here). I am *never* going to send anything via UPS. Never. And I shall spread the word...

The government won't be bailing you out, UPS !

UPS is ignorant and nothing more than a rip off. They refuse to supply info for lodging any type of complaint to anyone beyong the flunkys hired to stop all complaints at the quote :CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVEL" at all costs. The CEO David Abney continues to make his $456,000 per yr. plus almost $29,000 in bounes. For what? Lieing? Cheating the consumer? I will also never use these morons again. 2 packages for a birthday party. Tracked everyday by myself to assure arrival on time. Up untill I caught the UPS guy leaving my home area without stopping I was being told everything was on time and A-OK. I called them, they began the run around process. Finally he admitted the truck had been late and dident pick up the packages as was posted online tracking. This happened 10am the day before yet the upgraded info tracking my packages was ON TIME AS SCHEDULED for DILIVERY. This was for my Dads birthday, 86th. UPS had absolutly no remorse at all about it. Final statement was simply, THIS HAPPENS. 1,000's of packages everyday we cannot be concered about 2 packages missed dates. Youll get them Tuesday of next week. Good thing I am older and wiser then I once was..........
