Three years ago I purchased A 54” Garden tractor Model 917.276380 from Sears. I paid about $2500.00 for their top of the line tractor. I have been having a problem with a metal bracket that holds a pulley for the belt. If it was just a matter of replacing the pulley, I wouldn’t mind, but the bracket is welded to the deck in two places and can’t be replaced. I had it welded about 6 weeks ago but it broke again. I called Sears and they said they have not heard of the problem and told me to replace the deck ($500.00) or have it welded again. I chose the latter but I don’t know how many times it can be welded. I recommend you check the pulley brackets on the topside of the deck to see if they are welded, before you buy. If they are, you will be having the same problem. You may want to conceder A different Brand.

P.S. I just heard today that a friend has the same problem with the same tractor. I wonder how many of them are breaking?

I have the same model. I just had that bracket welded for the third time in six years. Sears won't do anything for me. STAY AWAY FROM SEARS TRACTORS.
