This is my first review, and it is for an amazing product. I must say that iPhone has met my expectations. It is simple. i operates like I think. It has both good and bad components. However, I think the good outweigh the bad.

First the good:

Visual Voice Mail. I love being able to respond to voice mail without listing to all the voice mail messages.

Touch screen calling. I am sure this functionality has made it to other phones. Hoever, it works quite well in the iPhone.

Durability. "Knock on Wood" I have had this phone since August'07, and it has performed as advertised. I have used it in all weather conditions. It has yet to let me down even in Chicago's cold winter nights.

Music and video. This phone truly get media right. I have the ability to covert presentations to iPod video and share with clients. Truly awesome.

Size. This thing fits into all my pockets. It is not too heavy.

Text Messaging. This works well, and it is very intuitive. I love the conversation functionality.

Now the Bad.

Cost. This is a two parter. Firstr, I bought this phone right before the price reduction. As I got the phone from a store. I did not get my UCC and all the other elements needed to get my rebate. I sulked for a month. However, I said it is good at $700. It is terrific at $399. Apple owes me one.

Cost2. You have to get the data pack. My monthly bill ist about $164 dollars a month. The good news, is that It civers my need. Bad news is it is $164 per month.

Net Speed. The ATT Service is not the fastest. For the money, you would think you could get something faster.

Lockedin. Unfortunately, Apple locks you into a 2-YR contract with ATT. There is supposedly some unlocking software floating around the net. However, it is not sanctioned or recommended. Hopefully, there are greater options after the contract expires.

Keyboard. If you have fat fingers, I would avoid texting. If you have medium fingers, only do it as needed. If you have small fingers, you will love the keyboard. Despite its compactness, you do get better the more you use it. However, it is not a slam dunk.

Camera. I have yet to take a really good picture with the phone. It should only be used as a last resort. However, it works if you are in a well lit space and do not move.

Extendability. This is influx. However, when compared to Windows CE or Palm OS type devices, there are not many apps available.

Final, thoughts. The genius of the iPhone has been quickly mimiced in the marketplace. There may be other phones with better phone plans and extendability. However, I continue to think that the iPhone is a terrific buy at $399. You may be able to get it for less. I think it remains a good get.
