The doctor chewed me out on the phone--called me directly and started chewing me out.

I'd told him in a note I'd written, & returning the free samples of CRESTOR statin-based-cholesterol-lowering medication, had caused the same side-effects in me that I'd suffered from ZOCOR (later, I discovered it was LIPITOR) and ZETIA, and didn't want him to push onto me any more statin medications. He said it was the nastiest note he'd ever read, and wanted to stop seeing me as his patient. Told me if I was having problems, I should have called his office and notified him. Sending information I've gotten from doctors on the Internet is quakery, etc., not valid, and my side-effects I reported weren't due to the medication---despite never having them before starting the medication! I had to be wrong, he was a doctor and knew better than me.

I did, I responded. You don't seem to listen in office visits, like over the last 3 visits of the last 6 months I've told you I wasn't comfortable in taking the medications. So, I put it in writing.

He didn't stop there---the verbal ass-chewing lasted for some 20 minutes, he finally setting up an appointment for me to re-discuss our "doctor-patient-relationship," ending with his yelling at me with, "Doctors can choose not to treat patients, too!" Tried hard to make me feel threatened about further things he could do to me, besides cancelling treatments / doctor-patient relationship.

My cholesterol numbers, by lab results, have slowly and steadily reduced some 52 points since 2 years ago---without statin medications and their painful side-effects. "Good" Cholesterol numbers are up, "Bad" down, etc.

My therapist convinced me to not lose all my temper like he had and not cause him bodily harm...and so did my attorney.

Thanks for letting me vent----I'm telling my health insurance carrier next. I've already gotten another doctor who doesn't yell at patients.
