I was with Verizon for over 10 years. Long story short, I called them to see if they can come down on my rates, since my local cable company had better prices. They promised me the world, and assured me they'd do whatever it takes to keep me as a customer. Needless to say the cheaper rates only lasted 2 months, and then I was back to my normal rates. When I called to question things, I was basically told I misunderstood what the offer was. I didn't misunderstand anything. I was never informed this deal was for 2 months only, or I would've just left at that point. Anyway, I demanded a manager and threatened to leave and go to cable. He laughed and told me to go for it. I was floored that a manager in their customer service dept. would encourage a customer to go elsewhere. So I did. Back in January of this year, I received my final bill from Verizon, which was a credit for $78.14. I called them and requested a check, since I couldn't apply the money towards any futre bills. They told me it would take a month to process, because they had to make sure I had no outstanding bills. February came, and I called back. I was then told I still had to wait one more month, and a check would definitely be mailed to me on March 2, 2008. I was keeping notes on all of this, but I was going through some family issues and forgot to inquire about my money on March 2nd. I realized on May 1st I still hadn't received my money from them. I called again, and was told that no paperwork was ever processed, and my money was tied up in accounting. I demanded a check be overighted to me, since it had now been 5 months I'm waiting on this money. I was told no, it was going to take an additional 6-8 weeks to receive my money back!!! I demanded a manager, who did nothing for me. I demanded his manager, and she did nothing for me, so I asked for her manager. She told me her manager doesn't take incoming complaints, he'd call me within 48 hours. Well guess what???? Never heard from him eiather. Does anyone know a corporate phone number I can call to complain about the terrible customer service and accounting process Verizon has in NY? I'm at my witt's end with this company. I'm so glad I left, but very frustrated they're holding almost $80 of mine for 5 months! Could you imagine the late fees and interest they'd charge me, if I didn't pay them for 5 months?
