I have several items from GemsTV and considered myself a loyal customer.
The presenters always encourage you to do your Christmas shopping in advance, buy things when you see a good deal and "put them away" for later gifts. The problem with that is you can't RETURN the item if it turns out to be unsatisfactory!
I bought a $284 watch for my boyfriend's birthday, and hid the box under my bed. It dawned on me though that his b'day is not until July 21st, and if he didn't like the watch, it would be too late to return it under GemsTV's 30-day money back guarantee. So I got it out and told him the story and asked him to look at it to see if he liked it and would like to have it as a birthday present. The "arms" of the watch are very light blue and VERY difficult to see ... he couldn't read the watch. (Frankly, I couldn't either.) I packaged it up to return it ... I had it out of the box exactly twice. (I did notice when I received it that it didn't have an inventory control tag, but didn't really think anything of it as I didn't know how they would attach one of their tags to a watch.)
Apparently it was received by GemsTV ONE DAY past the 30-day return period. And they claimed I had removed the tag. (It didn't HAVE a tag!) And they sent it back to me.
I complained via e-mail to Customer Service ... they gave me a number to call saying that perhaps they could make an exception. I spoke with Janet there who indicated I was out of luck ... "no exceptions."
(In the meantime, my cmpany went down the tubes and I'm now unemployed, and can ill afford $284 for a MEN'S watch that none of us can read.) By the way, there were a large quantity of these watches sold (they sold like hotcakes! -- they're still being sold on occasion with a different color watchband, in fact -- and I know they would have NO PROBLEM re-selling this item!
THIS IS A REALLY LOUSY WAY TO TREAT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, GEMSTV!!
