Repair Service - Sears Home Repair

Purchasing an Extended Warranty from Sears, on any item, provides consumers with nothing more than a piece of paper and an emptier wallet. Sears absolutely shirks all responsibility when it comes to fulfilling their part of this legal contract.
Point: Side-by-Side Refrigerator purchase on 9/04; Extended, Five Year, Warranty purchase on same day. Ice Maker stops working on 7/08. Repair is contacted; gives appointment for 7/25/08. Technician does not show, does not call but Sears Repair claims he called in sick and everyone "forgot" to contact me. Day One of lost wages.

On 7/26/08, Sears calls to say technician is coming. I leave work to rush home. Technician cancels. Day Two of lost wages.

A third appointment is given for 8/4/08; from 8 a.m. to 12 Noon. The time is now past 3:30 p.m. Sears claimed I was "next in line"; the technician called to say differently. He is overbooked and is doing his best.

Obviously, Sears, in hiring nothing more than $8.00 an hour, brain-dead, representatives, demonstrates how little they honestly care about consumer satisfaction. Just take the money....and RUN!

I have filed a complaint with NY State Consumer Fraud and will be seeking legal reimbursement for three days of lost wages.

Sears is a pitiful shell of a, once great, retail establishment.

Follow-up to this debacle:
Sears Repair Tech arrived at my home around 4:47 p.m.; could not access my "work order" on his computer and had to call in to Sears.

As was expected and, even after Sears was told to have a new Ice Maker put on the truck for this service call, the Repair Tech ended up telling me....it had to be ordered! Another two week wait!

I now have a list of names from Sears Customer Service; Shawana, Kyle, Barbara, Terry, Dwayne; all sharing in the same mis-information and hollow promises to remedy this situation.

And...I'm just one of how many thousands of consumers caught in the Sears web of deception?

Shop American, Buy American and get screwed by a long-standing American company.

Seems logical!

Very Very Very Very True. I will not purchase any more appliances from Sears and I have been a long time customer.
