I purchased downy comforter at IKEA and opened it for a check at home.

I did not like it and wanted to return it.

But store manager rejected he return due to the package being open.

IKEA policy is no way to return any bedding products once the package is open. The manager told me that it is their policy and they can not return it. They have to throw them away if those products are returned.

Everyone must know that it is not possible to return for fabric and bedding products if their packagings are open. It was so surprising to me. How customer can buy those products at IKEA.

Also store manager was not kind and I was not happy from his customer care.

The store location is stoneblair mall at Plano TX.

Please check IKEA return policy before buying. I bought it at regular price but it was denied to be returned due to packaging open.

Similar experience here. I bought a comforter based on their temperature scale (Cold to Hot is 1-6, I purchased a 3 in San Francisco). It wasn't warm enough for my room! I went back less than 24 hours later, and asked for an exchange to a warmer one, but they refused. One CR on the phone said sometimes they'll take it back if it's the same day. But, as soon as I walked into the store with the comforter rolled up, they wouldn't talk to me. The non-returnable bedding policy is not clearly posted near checkouts, nor is it on the front of the receipt. Only the self-checkouts were open, so there was no one to ask. If only I had read this thread earlier. I'm posting in as many places as possible about IKEA's crap customer service and rip offs.

Ikea return policy INSANE, i run a interior design business, and decorate home and restaurants and businesses, I used to do tons of business spending $1000's od dollars at Ikea for my products ocassionally you I may overbuy a product or two and change my mind on the concept or design of the project, and have extra vases or pots or planters and other domestics, well this last job I had about $300 of extra stuff on over a $1000 purchase, I kept my receipt and brought it back to get an exchange, not a refund and exchange for credit so I could get something i needed for my project and was denied a exchange on planters and vases because the Ikea stickers had been removed, I explained that the Ikea stickers had been removed by my employees because we dont leave noticable stickers on the products when we decorate someones home or business, i was told that since the stickers were removed they couldnt except the item and he then advised me to sell it. All I can think about that is What, really thats bad business..

I feel the same way. We bought about $6,000 worth of items from them. Two chairs were VERY poor quality. Tried to return them three days later and they refused. Been on the phone trying to deal with this for 2 hours, at my designers' high hourly expense.

Having spent the last 6 months trying to get satisfaction regarding a faulty product that caused me considerable personal injury, I resorted to issuing a county court judgement. IKEA said they would defend the action but did not put in a defense (delaying tactic?) and I am now in the position of having to enforce a warrant of execution against them at more cost to myself. The customer service is dreadful and lack of responsibility and "duty of care" towards their customers is blantly lacking and inequitable. I am horrified at the way I have been dealt with and am sorry to say that after many years of being an IKEA customer, I and friends will no longer be entering their hallowed doors.
