The automatic part of auto registration failed and the company wants you to scan and fax info or they wont activate a new out of the box cd. When I bought it i didnt see on the list of requirements that you needed a fax machine and a scanner to register the product for the first time.
Thats exactly what is happening.This is not the first time i had to throw mcafee in the trash because the company wouldnt except the registration from their own cd. This is the second mcafee program that has done this to me. The support department keeps asking me to uninstall and reinstall . I have done it 5 times and the same thing happens .They wont except their own registration. I would warn anyone thinking about buying this to think again. My opinion is that the company is not 5 star . i wonder if the virus protection ,if you can get it to work , is dependable. This problem is not on my end . I know it for a fact ,its their software . Their is no easy button to push and say "register" its not their.It tells you 30 days later (all that time you have not had up to date definition,that your computer is not protected.It doesn't say ,not registered. It makes you search for the problem.Once again, its my opinion that this virus program is not user friendly unless its taking your credit information. GOOD luck
