Westinghouse Complaint

Really, Really BAD Customer Service - Customer Service

I purchased a Westinghouse LCM-19w4 in early Dec. 2007. I loved it until March when it quit working.

I contacted Westinghouse by email through the Westinghouse Digital website using another computer. I got no response for well over a week. The response told me to contact customer support by telephone. So I did. Several times. I was ultimately told to return the monitor to them and I would be sent a replacement as soon as it was logged into the warehouse.

Westinghouse provides many hoops to jump through. First you must receive an RMA number which takes several phone calls and at least a week or so. Then you must provide the receipt from your purchase. Fortunately mine had been purchased through Fingerhutt and they graciously provided the needed documentation very quickly!

After carefully following their instructions, including paying $15.76 shipping out of pocket, to return it, I have not received a replacement monitor nor can I find out any information about what happened to the one I returned.

Westinghouse customer service has confirmed the monitor was received on May 14, 2008 but deny any knowledge of what happened, or what will happen now.

I feel like I have thrown away around $200 for nothing. I am beggining to feel like I have been scammed by a major corporation that I used to trust.

I will never buy a Westinghouse product again. I am telling anyone who will listen what kind of experience I had and how many cases like it I have found with just the simple internet search using the words ¨Westinghouse¨ and ¨customer service¨. Try it.

Jumpy, that's the stupidest thing a person could say in response to what this woman wrote about her experience. Why do people take it so personally when someone has to give a bad review? The fact of the matter is, I'm doing homework on buying a TV, and I find this post extremely helpful. I want nothing to do with a company who is going to treat its customers like this. Further, this is not the first complaint I've read that reported this exact same experience, only with an LCD TV.

On Sept. 11, 2008, I finally received a re-conditioned replacement monitor. The one I returned was NEW. However at this point I will accept it and pray it does not go out just to get this experience behind me. (I was using a borrowed monitor for 4 months.)
Never again will I buy a Westinghouse product.

I do get on the internet and post happy experiences. In the past I have praised Amtrak, Charter customer service and other things. In fact when I purchased this monitor I posted several positive comments on a couple of different sites because it worked so beautifully with my Linux/Ubuntu system. I was lavish in my praise of this product in particular.
And, yes to have praised it only to be let down when it died followed by being betrayed by the customer service makes it worse.

It is now July 26, 2008, and Westinghouse has had my monitor since May 14, 2008, After making 9 phone calls and being promised 3 times to be called back by someone this is still no word on when I will get the replacement I was promised.

It's likely that no matter what company you put in google search...you're going to get crappy reviews. Because happy people have no reason to get on the internet and complain.
