so i know both sides. i am also putting together a customer service class for my employees, subs and insurance companies. i dont know why your job went that long. we do have this happen to us. we average between 20 to 40
jobs going on at a time. that is the problem with this industry.
we may get 3 or 4 big jobs in one evening. so our work load is never even. in a water damage like yours, getting the house dry, quickly is the emergency, the repairs slow up due to scheduling.
state farm holds us to high standards. in about 1 hour i have a statefarm official coming to my shop to review our location, jobs,
and problems. we better do good work, and we do.we also are required group contractors meetings
with the claims personel. the biggest problem they tell us to work on is communication with the customer. one thing you mentioned was them paying you for your mortgage payment. no insurance company oues you for this, none.
most policies have a loss of use clause. in your case they would covered the hotel or apartment cost
as well as food ... your state insurance commision kind of regulated what companies sell, so they basically sell the same thing, just packages. service is where it counts. lastly, when your damage is turned in as a claim, your agent is totally out of the picture. the ones that get involved can be a pain in the butt.
we do though keep our agents up to speed as to what is going on with their customer, and advise them to stay in touch. our contract is wigh the customer, so i work for you and i try to advise you on the right questions to ask, like loss of use, as well as advise you on issues like wanting them to pay your mortgage. a homeowners policy
overall pays to put you back whole.
like you were before the problem
