I also went with pods for moving as I needed transportation and storage for a month. So, I was convinced that any premium I paid would be worth the convenience. PODS dropped off the container, picked it up and stored without a problem. They even brought my pod out of storage within a few hours when I had an emergency and needed to get it. HOWEVER, when it came time to deliver the pod I ran into HUGE problems. My original quote for the final delivery was $58.00 to go from baltimore MD to silver spring MD. However, as we were unable to find a place to live in silver spring we ended up in North bethesda MD. North bethesda MD is somewhere between 5-6 miles west of Silver Spring. In my mind I understood that my original quote of $58.00 would no longer apply, and expected an increased delivery rate. With the extra 5 miles I would figure the new price would be somewhere between $75-$85, a reasonable and understandable increase. However, imagine my amazement when I got the new quote and PODS wanted to charge me not $75, not $100, not even $150, but $1,000!!!!! I've been trying to negotiate with them for 6 days now however I keep getting the run around by their service reps and their managers. What really frustrates me is when I finally get someone to understand how unreasonable it is to the point where they agree to at least TRY to work something out, but then NEVER RETURN MY PHONE CALL!! At this point, it looks like I will have to rent my own truck and do all the moving myself. I just don't understand how a company can offer you a service and then make it totally impossible to deliver on that service. Every reason why I got the POD in the first place has been nullified by these events. What a terrible situation and shame on PODS for not even lifting a finger to try to help. NEVER EVER EVER will I recommend this company to anyone! STAY AWAY! If you have to pay a premium with other companies at least you'd be paying a premium for a competent and honest corporation!
