Once again AT&T has obtained a monopoly and once again customer service has gone straight down the pan. Every time I change any facet of my service it costs at least $50 to flip a switch. A tech came 40 days ago to repair a line and left wires loosely twisted together and HANGING OUT OF THE WALL. Although I explained that I've been out of the country since, AT&T claims their warranty on repairs is only 30 days. Warranty nothing - this was terrible, negligent work. Their internet call service is recruited from the dregs of the Mumbai outsourcing industry; most reps barely speak English and none seem capable of doing more than reading from the script, even when working with a networking professional like me (no, a broken modem can't be fixed by turning it off and back on again). Their wireless website is broken, to say the least - random charges appear and disappear, each technician has a different "solution," and every time I go on the web site the company demands another irrelevant piece of personal information before condescending to do business with me. I had Cingular for 4 years without needing to provide a birth date but suddenly AT&T just can't function without one. Given that they are listening in on my calls and probably monitoring my email and viewing habits, I don't want to give them ANY information. If the other reviewers hadn't rated Comcast (my only other option) so horribly, I'd be a total ghost.
