Dairy Queen Complaint

Not for the common folk - medium size blizzard

I was astounded at the prices at my local Dairy Queen in Eagan, MN. We ordered supper for 2 people (sandwich, burger, fries, 1 med. ice coffee, 1 med. blizzard) and it was $22! That is as much as going out to a sit-down dinner! Or a year ago it was. The "medium" size blizzard comes in a cup 4 1/2 inches tall. I thought it was the mini-size but was told that was the medium. What cheapskates! I know restaurants and fast food places have to pay more for food just like we all do and they are jacking up the prices or cutting down the quantity but $4.50 (about) for a little bitty ice cream? Give me a break! I don't think the medium size used to be this size. I love DQ ice cream but they have gotten so expensive I won't go back.

I don't know how much you're exaggerating, or maybe you're just leaving out some of your order, but there is no way those five items cost $22.00. A medium size blizzard at DQ is made in a 16 ounce cup. (Small is made in a 12 ounce, large in a 21 ounce.) Keep in mind, depending on who own's your DQ, the prices are different. My DQ is individually owned and our medium size blizzards are $3.52 (including tax). If you want extra topping (depending on what it is) that's an additional .40 - .49 cents. I don't know what you consider as a "sit-down" dinner, but I can't go to TGI Friday's and spend less than $20 (including tip) on just myself. Ice cream is very expensive. A half week supply of ice cream crates is a little more than $400.00 for places like DQ.
