Not Lovin' it - Manager

This complaint is for the Mcdonalds in Lancaster, Pa. The one that is right across from the Willow Valley Resort on Willow Street Pike. First they close their doors but leave the drive thru open. Basically leaving all orders to be placed on the drive thru window. Since we were at the resort, we left our cars parked and walked to the drive thru. We were with two other families that were also staying at that same resort. After waiting about twenty minutes on line, a person from inside the restaurant comes out and tells us to go the window to order. We walked to the window like the man had asked, and were refused service. Now, I do not understand how one person can tell us one thing and then someone else tells us another. We explained to the manager we were willing to go inside to order but the doors were closed. We also told her we were standing on the drive thru line and an employee told us to walk to the window to order. This manager rudely told us she didn't care and was not going to take our orders. Now we tried to explain to her the reason why we were there, and she did not care. She refused to serve us and the other two families. She and the rest of the staff working there gave us very rude treatment and told us to get off the line because we were holding up traffic. Now, if there was a sign on their drive thru that specified they would only serve customers who were in cars, then I wouldn't complain, but there was no sign. Also, what is the difference if we were in our cars or not? If this was going to pose a problem, then do not close your doors. Everyone staying at the resort did not take their cars for the same reason we didn't take ours. It was more convenient to walk. It is right across the street. Anyway, after experiencing this hardship, we left McDonalds and went to Burger King where they were very welcoming and we WALKED in their drive thru without a problem. This is a shame that McDonalds can hire such insensitive and rude people to represent what was once to me the BEST fast food on the planet. Your food is still good, but this experience will always weigh heavy on my mind. I will refuse McDonalds because of this incident. At this point I really do not care about your food, your service representatives were horrible and the manager was very unprofessional. I am surprised this caliber of person is allowed to manage such a successful food chain. This is the reason my family will take their business elsewhere.

yeh i've worked when this situation comes up. usually, you have to be in a car *if* the store is actually open (front counter), but if it's not, then usually its permissable to walk through the drive through. I guess the confusion is that, among crew and management, these is mcdonalds A (the policy way) and mcdonalds B (the shifty way). if they were following policy, you should not have been allowed service because it is a health and safety issue (cars might hit you), however management just wants your custom, so they allow it. lil bit of confusion internaly i'd say.
