No confidence in their own product - Direct-TV through Peak Internet

We have been tv-free for half a year due to the terrible service, etc. of Charter Communications. We looked into Direct-TV, but if they feel they have to lock customers into contracts, they must have a poor product. When are companies going to provide what customers want, in our case, 1) a one month trial to see if Direct-TV is any good, 2) the option of getting only the channels we want - which are C-Span, PBS, and TCM.
