National Carpet Cleaners of Boynton Beach. FL
sent a two-man crew to clean two rooms of carpeting. The gentlemen in charge spent most of his time at my home trying to convince me to purchase an additional type of scotch guarding which I told him I didn't want. He was angry and assured me my carpet would not stand up at all without the additional purchase. Well, due to his anger, he deliberately did a terrible job of cleaning, at which he spent less than 10 minutes , I guess to "show" me, and left several spots which he insisted would not come out. I subsequently noticed he moved nothing out of the way, and I'm not referring to heavy furniture, but a dust ruffle around the beds, and vertical blinds. Both areas were left with a stripe of soil behind them. After calling to ask that they return to just take are of the spots missed, they sent their employee back.
He entered my home angrily, shouting at me all the while, that if the spots or soil were still there after he left, they were beyond cleaning, which was of course, absurd. He continued to shout at me when my husband entered the match and requested that he stop yelling at me and when he would not, he was asked to leave, which he did, after displaying a nasty temper tantrum.
This was reported to the company's manager or supervisor, who promised to send someone in a few days to fix the problem. No one ever showed up. I initially decided not to follow up on this, because, frankly I was frightened of the employee they had sent and feared retribution. In retrospect, I resent having been charged for a job so poorly executed. I hasten to add that my house is extremely well- kept and clean, and should not have presented a problem. This is a case of an employee who was denied an additional sale from which he must receive a commission, or he wouldn't have fought so hard for the sale, and this was his way to get "even."
I believe the company is as much at fault as the employee because they didn't follow through and send someone back (or come themselves) to view the problem. I have never been treated so shabbily by a vendor or business service and hasten to add that if this is their style, they will lose business until they are forced to close. And they will deserve it.
