Morandi - Waverly, NYC
The much anticipated Morandi opened this weekend. Peter Mcnally does it again.
On a whim we went at 10 on the first saturday night that it was open.
The place was crowded and filled with the buzz and energy of a new and fresh space filled with excited patrons taking the atmosphere in.
The layout is nice and feels at once familiar and comfortable with warm lighting and blonde wood everywhere. The bar is front and center with interesting if not familiar cocktails.
Menu is a nice itailian with a wide range of dishes. As the place was open 5 minutes i cant really say much about the menu yet as i am sure it will move some.
Service was good and efficient and everyone seemed to know their way around the menu and the kitchen. All in all for a new place with this much cache it was a good evening.
Surely this place will explode, be a little annoying for awhile and then settle into a great destination.
Try it out for lunch or breakfast to beat the crowds.
