Lowes terrible product support - Outdoor Canopy / Return Policy

I purchased a 12x12 canopy at Lowes . I used it 2 times. The third time I used it a gust of wind blew it down and all the middle support screws pulled out. The canopy was broken.

My husband and I went to Lowes on 07/11/2009 and explained to them that we purchased the CANOPY from LOWES. We kept the receipt for it - but wouldn't you know it - the receipt was blank. The receipt was printed on thermal heated paper that guarantee this effect.

I spoke to the return department supervisor named JEREMY (bleached blond hair with dark beard) and he said that he couldn't do anything for me and that they would only guarantee their product for 90 days. I explained to him that this was a seasonal item that couldn't be used but occassionaly and had only used two times prior to this third time.

JEREMY was extremely unhelpful and unbending. I only wanted to get a replacement for my canopy. He offered to give me a 10% discount so I could buy a new one. I paid $120.00 plust tax for this canopy and I only got to use twice.

JEREMY at LOWES told me that he couldn't do anything for me that I had to deal directly with the manufacturer.

My husband and I do a lot of gardening and home improvements. From now on, I will never give any of my business to LOWES. If they don't support their clients and stand behind the product they sell, what good is it to give them business?

I am now buying all of my seasonal items at COSTCO. COSTCO stands behind their products 100%. I know without a shadow of a doubt that if this merchandise had been purchased at COSTCO, I wouldn't have been hassled and refused the return of the product. I would have received a store credit or a refund of my money. I don't care anymore if LOWES offer 1 YR guarantee on their plants and trees. I will go to HOME DEPOT before I go to LOWES.

That merchandise return experience was horrid and would never want it repeated again. I still have my hardly used canopy and I want every LOWES shopper to beware. I've spoken to some friends at work and told them of my experience and you can be sure that I'll continue to tell everyone I know who shop there of my terrible experience.

hey ladie, maybe you should weight the canopy bottom down or put spikes. these are not made to take a heavy hit and mine is 2 yrs old and still fine. sounds like you need to build a wood structure.
