Lousy service

Direct tv claims service is hardly ever disrupted by weather. This is a blatent lie. I live in the Chicago area and frequently when it is rainy windy or snowy, my service is interupted. The last straw is now. My service has been down for the=ree days and when I called for service I was told I would have tomwait two weeks. The service reps on the phone all had different theories for why my service was down. None of which helped.

I was told if I canceled I would owe a cancellation fee of $480. This is an example of corporate greed and short sightedness. I doubt they will be in business within the next 24 months.

I live in the Chicago area too. I don't know when you posted this complaint, but I am experiencing the same issues. I have been without service for a week, and they are telling me that they won't have a technician available for three more weeks. I was told by a satellite geek friend of mine that DirectTv is in a world of hurt. Apparently the newer satellite system has an "eye" in it. They tested this system in California, never in poor weather, or in cold tempratures. During this freeze we are experiencing, the "eye" can't handle it and breaks. Older technology of the dish supposedly works, but getting a tech out to help is virtually impossible. Most everyone I know in the Chicago area is without service, and isn't getting much assistance from the company. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, and they have been inundated with complaints. At this point, I don't know where to go next. Just wanted to let you know, you aren't alone.
