Island Recreational Complaint

Being a new pool owner and not sure of what it takes to open and maintain a pool I went to island recreational on may 12, 2007 in Medford, NY with many questions and concerns. I thought this place had knowledgeable and professional employees, but boy was I wrong!

When I contacted the pool manufacturer for unrelated question was told that my pool required 1"tablets for the filter system and that everything Island recreational sold me would not work well with my type of pool and filter. When i contacted island recreational customer service was told by kenya that as long as chlorine was not open it could be exchanged. After driving from nyc to franklin square to do exchange for the right stuff, was given a hard time. Very nasty staff.

The customer service person at store Melissa P was too busy to help or just did not want to work, cashier Anthony refused to take item back and Sal T was the most rude and obnoxious store manager i've ever met. I then spoke with customer service on phone spoke with Nicole who blew me off to manager Gary who refused to intervene or do what was morally and legally the right thing to do.

I strongly feel that this company is perpertrating some sought of fraud on unsuspecting consumers by deliberately selling chemicals that are not right for the specific pool, application or filter or that simply do not meet manufacturer specifications for the pool purchased so that you are stick with it. Once in store they refuse to return, exchange or refund or compensate for selling customer the wrong products. Products purchased can not be returnedand therefore you are stuck with products you cant use.

I feel the staff at this company are incompetent, lazy and downright useless and that they use totally unethical and unscrupolous sales tactics simply to take advantage of and rip off new pool owners. They are not honest, reputable or trustworthy. Nor are they courteous, professional or respectful. Charges should be commenced against them for taking advantage of the old and disabled.
