It appears that several people are being told by Apple that water damage caused the problem; therefore, the phone is not covered by warranty. Recommend you send a letter to NY Attorney General Consumer Fraud Division. Sounds to me like Apple found a way to side step their warranty. After all, the IPone is assembled in China.
