I hired these people after my long term cleaning lady moved away. I reviewed the contract very carefully, and was very specific about what I wanted during my initial interview. I did refuse to turn over my house key, as I live alone and am not wild about the idea of strangers having access to my house.

The first time they were supposed to clean, they showed up 45 minutes late, claiming they got "lost", never calling my cell phone so I could give them directions. This made me late for work, so I was not happy.

When I arrived home, I was unimpressed by the level of cleaning - much of what was listed in my contract was not done, the garbage was not taken out and a dirty ashtray was left on the kitchen counter.
When I complained, it took two phone calls to get satisfaction, and they agreed to do the next cleaning at no charge. Again, the cleaners were late, the cleaning was mediocre, and they even left me a note regarding my laundry room that said "We don't have to do this area" when it clearly stated in the contract that they did.
I fired them the next day and went with a small family company instead.
This was several years ago that this happened, but I will never contract with a corporation like this again.
