Bank of America Complaint

Highway Robbery?? - online banking customer service

I am a hardworking, single, american mom with a modest checking account. Since opening my account, Bank of America somehow manages to put a "hold" on every one of my deposits. This has not only occurred with personal checks. It has occurred with government checks (tax refund), and corporate checks. It always seems to happen when my balance is low. I receive NO notification that a hold is on my account. So, I have overdrawn and endured the NSF charges. How can this be?? It seems like they 'lie in wait' for my account balance to drop, then they slap a 'hold' on my latest deposit. And, don't even get me started on their customer service department. I get a variety of unhelpful, unrelated responses from them, if I receive any response at all.

Me too!!! I just had a direct deposit put into my account, a day or two after I had made four small purchases (debits) for which my existing checking account balance would cover. I transferred a few thousand dollars to my line of credit, and instead of depositing the transfer, B of A held it out for three days.(A long holiday weekend, they said.) When a large check I had written came through, it did not clear...AND...the smaller debits I had made (now a week earlier) did not clear either! They paid the debits--as a "courtesy" to me--NOT TO MENTION THEY KNEW I HAD THE CASH IN THE ACCOUNT!I had $6000 between my checking and line of credit and yet I BOUNCED a purchase of a book of stamps for $8.40! I now have incurred $175 in fees. They are mean and greedy and dishonest and rude and refuse to help me. I don't know who to go to. How can they get away with this, isn't this America?

You're absolutely right about the "lying in wait" part. We have our main checking account through a credit union, and we have never had a question about what they were doing with our account. Bank of America is underhanded.
