Hi, my father died April 3, 2007. His funeral was April 7, 2007. I flew my daught in from Spokane WA, to Rapid City SD April 6th for the funeral. She was to leave on April 8. We took her to the airport at 5 a.m. that day and her plane was to leave at 6:50 a.m. When she got there, they told her that her flight had been canceled. She asked why she hadn't been notified before then. They said that they had called her home phone. She told them that, that made alot of sense since she was here in Rapid and trying to get home to Spokane. They then told her that they also left a message on her cell phone. She quickly checked it right then and said "Nope, sorry, no message on here from you". Anyway the told her that her flight was rescheduled for 3:40 that night. We came back to the airport at 2:00 p.m. got her checked in and got her tickets, so then me and her dad left to come back home. We get 3/4's of the way home and she calls and says that she had an hour wait, then they had them board the plane and sit for another half hour. Then they told her that the flight was canceled and there wouldn't be another one leaving till 3:40 on April 9th. Let me just say both trips to the airport was 50 miles round trip. The people at the airport told her that it was due to lack of employees. When I called their 800 number the lady told me it was due to weather. It was 60 degrees all across the states. Anyway, they put her up in a motel that night that the restraunt was closed due to Easter, so she had to walk to a convenience store to get some micro food to take back to her room. On arriving there, there was a group of guys hanging around the outside making rude gestures to her and also did it when she was leaving. She was scared to death. What if they would have raped her and possibley killed her. She finally made it to Spokane at 1:45 a.m. April 10th. She missed 2 days of work plus 2 days of college and a big test that she needs to take in order to graduate this year. I called the airlines once again but they gave me a different number to call that wasn't an 800 number, to put my complaint in. I had to call that number 4 or 5 times, so now I'm running up my phone bill too. I finally get a guy and all they want to offer us is $150.00 for all the hell they put my daughter through. Oh Yeah, did I tell you that they hung up on me 3 times. I guess there's not much more that I can do, because when I asked to speak to the guys supervisor, he informed me that there was noone higher than him and I asked if he was the owner of the company and that's when he would hang up. I was trying to get her a free ticket to fly again sometime. Most companies would have done that without even asking but not good ole NORTHWEST AIRLINES !!!
