The Home Depot store in Waterford, CT fired an employee for interfering with a shoplifter who had just wheeled a shopping cart full of chainsaws out the door. Home depot says he should have smiled and said: "Have a nice day!" It seems the company is promoting a culture of cowardice and firing the good guys. (see letters to the editor at www.theday.com for Wednesday, September 17, 2008)

I've spent about $50,000 there over the years for my home and busnesses. Never again will I step foot in one of their stores. Lowe's is the winner!
