I lost my GoPhone phone, and I want to purchase a new phone and transfer my old number and balance to the new phone. Sounds simple enough, right?
However, customer service said that I could either go to an AT&T store to by an unactivated phone or purchase a new phone from AT&T.com and then call customer service back and they would activate with my old number and balance.
The store said that they could not sell me an unactivated phone at the reduced price, but would charge me an extra $75. The online site would not allow me to buy an unactivated phone. I called customer service back, and they said that I could call the online sales and tell them the story and they would give me send me an unactivated phone. I did this, but they said that I would need to contact yet another department.
I did, but they said that it wasn't possible. The rude customer service rep said that I would have to go to a store to purchase one - I told her the story, but she said "Listen to what I am saying" blah, blah, blah...
I've had terrible trouble with AT&T before - anytime I have to actually do something with customer service, it is a disaster. Perhaps it is time for me to try a different wireless carrier.

0 This poster is 100% right on. Everytime I've had the misfortune of dealing with ATT (my parents' cell company). It has been an utter waste of time. Once they even tried to tell me that my mom had voided the warranty on her phone by dowsing it with water...THE PHONE WAS ON FIRE AT THE TIME. My advice, don't waste your time and money with these people.
0 just buy a new phone & sim card on ebay. cheaper! i think they can transfer you old # and activate your sim
0 my go phone telephone number is 239 249 0688. i have a package for free nights and weekends that doesnt expires until april 7th. Today is march 14th i was making phone calls athis morning and now suddenly i cant make or recieve phone calls. I would like to use my phone!
