Genuinely Sick of It - Magic jack

I'm a college student up to my neck in loans, and until recently I was paying way too much for Verizon. My dad bought me a magic jack and I canceled my service. As much as I loathe Verizon, I'm not sure I should have. True, magicjack doesn't give me nightmares about how much money I'm devoting to it, but then it DOESN'T WORK. My friends, family, and classmates can't get a hold of me anymore besides email and facebook. It's embarrassing. Whenever I place a call, it cuts so badly that I just hear little samples and snippits of the persons voice (not great sound quality either) and then silence. The only customer service you can get is via IM. It takes forever. And more often than not (I had problems before, but they were possibly caused by my laptop, not magicjack) they just kind of shrug their shoulders and tell you they're sorry.

I live in a really cheap apartment complex, that's like a three minute bike ride from a major college campus. The internet connection here is probably not the best in the world, and while it always WORKS and it's not usually too slow, it may just not be able to take the load of a phone conversation. I've gotten it to work three times: once in the morning, once in the early afternoon, and Thanksgiving weekend when everyone had already packed up and gone home. That's my theory.

However, there's some sort of flaw in this theory because I just tried calling my mom at 6:45 in the morning and it was HORRIBLE. I'm so sick of this stupid POS.

ALTHOUGH -- Maybe magicjack should market to college students; having no social life anymore, admittedly, has brought my grades up, yay!
