First of all I moved from Comcast where service could be down for 2 days to a week before someone would come out and fix the problem. Moved to Embarq . Service has been a lot better UNTIL today. Recall that the TV ad specifies $24.95 for life and beyond (but I don't intend being alive in the year 2495 so I will be happy with 2050). With that in mind, today I get a letter telling me that since I have not selected Embarq as my long distance service provider, my Internet service bill would be going up $10.00 per month. I do not recall seeing Embarq Long Distance mentioned as a condition of service when I signed up for the Embarq Internet service. Worse, if you use this long distance service it will cost you $.10 per minute. False Advertising, underhanded business dealings, heavy handed business dealings, unscrupulous business dealings - pick your favorite of these descriptions, or be inventive and add your own. I intend to complain to the Florida Public Service Commission, the Better Business Bureau, and selected members of the US House and Senate. Embarq makes Microsoft look like a friend to the consumer.

I signed up for the Embarq package and today received a letter about losing the $10.00 discount. They knew I wanted a different LD carrier and agreed to it and now say someone lied.
