Being retired and on social security I needed to save money. I received an ad from Direct TV offering a $29.99 package for service. the offer was for free showtime free install and 150 channels. I signed up. My first bill was for $187.18 I was charged for the $39.99 package for HD products (I don't own an HD TV.) and all the movie channels. I was told I had to go on line to receive a $40.00 rebate each mo. I was sent a revised bill that I payed for $149.51 I went on line 3 times and could not get through, the web site was too busy. The 4th time I got through and was able to order my rebate.My next bill for $72.37 did not reflect my rebate. I called cuistomer sevice around 8/29 to ask if they had received it? No they had not. I was told to go back online to try again the 5th time. I still could not get through.I sent Direct TV an email stating that if they did not give me my rebate I would cancel my contract. They were not keeping their agreemenmt so why should I? On 9/10 I recieved another bill for $143.96 I called to ask if my rebate had been addd I was told no. I cancelled my contact at this time. I was told I would be receiving a box to return their equipment. It has not come.

On10/10/09 a debit of $555.37 was debited from my checking account by Dierect TV. without my authorization. I called customer sservice to try to reslolove this, talked to a supervisor. My account showed I had called 8 times and they had recieved my email requesting my rebate. I told him I switched to Direct TV to save money was retired and on social security. He said there was nothing he could do to help me.

I am going through the same thing direct tv went into my account and took out $814.89 without my permission and US Bank let them . I blame my bank I hold them responable I intrusted my money to them. I am going to close4 my account and join a credit union. Us bank put the money back in my account until they finish invistagating. but they are sending me paper work asking questions that they know I can't remember. (what time did I cancelled, what was theperson name I spoke with,) I think they are trying to set me up. so I am going to close my account.
